What will your team be relying on?

I’m taking a brief break from all the stats, % signs and radar charts to do a quick, simple season preview on what each Premier League team’s season will rely on.

Arsenal: Fewer injuries than last year, that an early season run doesn’t get their fans hopes up.

Aston Villa: That Benteke and Vlaar stay fit and on form for the season.

Burnley: A miracle, probably.

Chelsea: Diego Costa scoring goals.

Crystal Palace: That the new manager manages to pull off Tony Pulis’ end of season form

Everton: That signing players permanently that they had on loan last year works as a strategy.

Hull: That they don’t bomb. Otherwise they’re probably safe.

Leicester: That the proven Premier League calibre talent of the likes of David Nugent is enough to save them from the drop.

Liverpool: Their new signings to score and set up the 50-odd goals Suarez was involved in last year.

Manchester City: Remembering Yaya Toure’s birthday.

Manchester United: Ed Woodward, LVG, and as few injuries to the back line as possible.

Newcastle: That they get a more attractive first kit (this is my way of saying they won’t get relegated or anywhere near Europe, their season is essentially a dead rubber).

QPR: That their team gels in a way it didn’t the last time they were in the Premier League.

Southampton: Their fans not to mind that they’ll finish far below where they did last year.

Stoke: That, um, I dunno, that we don’t all forget they exist.

Sunderland: New signings, that there are 3 teams worse than them in the league.

Swansea: 1) Gary Monk proves to be a decent manager 2) Michu finds the form that put him in everyone’s fantasy football teams a couple of years ago (EDIT: That they recall him from his loan at Napoli and he finds the form etc etc) 3) That their official site loses the .net domain

Tottenham: Pocchetino.

West Brom: That their players get a morale and performance boost from the fact that they’ve narrowly avoided getting Tim Sherwood as boss.

West Ham: That they don’t sack Big Sam.
